Secondary 1 Chinese Programme

Why is SCFY offering Secondary 1 classes now?

Many parents have asked us to continue supporting their children beyond Primary 6. From 2026, SCFY will extend into Secondary 1 so students can keep benefiting from our trusted approach and smooth transition into Secondary school.

Are SCFY’s teachers trained to teach Secondary school?

Yes. While our teachers are Primary-trained, they bring deep expertise that makes the Secondary 1 programme rigorous and relevant:

  • Curriculum knowledge: Strong understanding of MOE Secondary Chinese curriculum, building directly on Primary foundations.

  • Leadership & assessment expertise:

    • Mr Lim, co-founder — MA in Educational Management; former MOE Head of Department (Mother Tongue Languages); SEAB national exam Key Personnel marker.

    • Ms Goh, co-founder — former MOE Chinese Language teacher; SEAB Key Personnel marker with extensive exam experience.

Together, they ensure lessons are well-designed, aligned with MOE standards, and responsive to students’ needs.

How is the Secondary 1 programme different from Primary classes?

At Secondary 1, expectations rise significantly:

  • Higher-level comprehension (阅读理解): Analysing longer, more complex texts and interpreting perspectives.

  • Essay writing (作文): From narrative writing to discursive, argumentative, and expository essays.

  • Oral discussion (口试会话): Moving from personal conversations to theme-based discussions on current affairs and social issues.

  • Vocabulary and language use (词汇与语言应用): Greater emphasis on idioms, formal vocabulary, and accurate grammar.

Our Secondary 1 programme provides structured lessons, targeted practice, and small-group coaching to help students adapt confidently.
